The time is drawing near when wind powered homes and cities are not a novelty but a common site. Wind energy in the future will be second only to solar energy as a renewable energy source.

The farmers and developers work out an arrangement where the farmer is paid an annual fee for allowing the wind turbines to be built on his land.

The land is not damaged and the farmer is able to plant his crops or graze his animals at the same time that a renewable energy is being made. A win-win situation for everyone involved.

The future of wind energy can only get better. Each day new wind farms are opening or being planned to bring in more energy.

According to the Bangor Daily News online, on Thursday, January 22, 2009, in Danforth Maine, First Wind of Massachusetts’ 38-turbine project went online and was expected to send 57 megawatts of power to New England’s grid by the end of the day.

And that is just the beginning; there are plans for over 400 megawatts of power to be produced by wind farms in Maine for next year.

Maine is just one state, just an example of how massive wind power can be. There are states that won’t be able to produce enough wind energy to provide complete power, but any reduction in the use of fossil fuels is worthwhile.
