transferred to a central power station where it can be
harnessed and stored.
By creating steam by burning the garbage to heat and boil
water. The steam is used to generate electricity where the
burning is done in isolated chambers in order to reduce the
pollutants that are eventually released into the
atmosphere.
Methane is a very harmful greenhouse gas, which in
combination with carbon dioxide reduces air quality and
contributes to the destruction of the ozone layer. So, when
biomass energy is used to generate electricity it is very
important to keep the methane gases out of the atmosphere.
Waste treatment plants are able to pump the waste into
isolated chambers which support decomposition of the waste.
Because the waste is trapped, the methane gas that is produced
can be trapped and safely piped to a point that it can be used
responsibly creating as little pollution as possible.
